Synopsis
The filmmaker Eva Stefani closely follows the preparations for Transverse Orientation and its tour across European theaters, observing with a bold gaze the renowned director and choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou and his team as they strive to bring the work to life. Through her lens, the documentary poses a central question: “Why do we do what we do?”, highlighting art as an act of resistance against the fleeting nature of life and a means to give it meaning.
Inspired by the myth of the Minotaur, Transverse Orientation explores light as a guide, transcending linear narrative structures and questioning hierarchies, identity, and communication. Since its premiere in 2021, it has traveled across three continents, twenty countries, and thirty-one cities, amassing over 80,000 viewers and receiving outstanding reviews.
